Every licensed business of that type operating in the city is pulled from state licensing records and local permit filings.

Screen on hard records
Active license, current insurance, and a clean disciplinary and complaint history across the preceding 36 months.

Read the service record
Public review history is read for recurring themes rather than star averages. Callbacks, billing disputes and responsiveness carry the most weight.

Publish with reasons
One winner is named and the reasoning is published on the award page, alongside the category methodology.
